New on The Show

Jason James
“I’ve Been Drinking More” -  “I think it's a wonderful one, great steel bridge, in Merle Haggard and George Jones vien of things, young artist with a cold solid country voice, I think he’s great” - Marie Crichton BBC Radio Shropshire

Home Town: Texas City, Texas
The 13 track debut of the Texan Country musician Jason James comes with a mixture of traditional styled Honky Tonk songs, Country Rock and ballads! All 13 tracks were written by the artist himself.
Band Members: Jason James-vocals/guitar, Elvin Levins-Bass/backing vocals, Adam Berlin-Drums, Steel- Tony & Fiddler X - Brandi Clark
One of the finds of the year, this is absolutely essential (5 STARS Duncan Warwick | Country Music People)
Up and coming Texas artist Jason James is here to bridge the gap between the red dirt music we enjoy and the classic country we love.
Elements of country, honky tonk and blues are prevalent and flawlessly Jason James' self-titled debut, on the esteemed New West Records label, introduces a charismatic young artist whose effortless mastery of his chosen style serves as a deeply compelling vehicle for his vibrant creative spirit.

The talented Texan writes rousing honky-tonk anthems, heart-tugging ballads and smart, sly-humored country-rock tunes that echo the vintage classics that are his touchstones, and sings them with a level of emotional urgency that makes it clear that he means every word.

The 13 original compositions that comprise Jason James make it clear that the artist is making music that's timeless rather than retro, reflecting his interest in adding to country tradition rather than merely emulating it. A stellar supporting cast was recruited to bring James’ songs to life: producers John Evans (Hayes Carll, Corb Lund), Keith Gattis
(Willie Nelson, Dwight Yoakam) and engineer Steve Christensen (Steve Earle, Destiny’s Child) were at the helm, while the virtuosic talents of Dave Roe (Johnny Cash, Dwight Yoakam), Glen Duncan (George Jones, Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton), Steve Hinson (Randy Travis) and New West labelmate Robert Ellis can be heard gracing the expansive, 13-song collection.
If you fell asleep about 40 years ago and are just waking up now, you might be a little puzzled by what they call country music these days. Even newbies Maddie and Tae note the change, singing “Conway and George Strait never did it this way.” Don’t be alarmed, it hasn’t all gone to rap and cornfield keg parties, there are new artists creating, or maybe recreating, the vintage sound of cowboy-hat (not baseball cap) wearing country artists from the by-gone days. Jason James is one of these....The Rowdy.com
It wouldn't be out of line to lump in Jason James' "I've Been Drinkin' More" with such country drinking staples as Gary Stewart's "She's Acting Single (I'm Drinking Doubles)," Johnny Paycheck's "I Can't Quit Drinking" and George Jones' "If Drinkin' Don't Kill Me (Her Memory Will)." And for good reason: The 30-year-old Texas singer-songwriter cites all three of those artists as key influences on his brand of heartbreaking barroom country....The debut single from James self-titled debut album, due later this summer, "I've Been Drinkin' More" (>> soundcloud) isn't a celebration of booze, however, but in the style of classic country, a sorrowful mid-tempo ballad about self-medicating Read more: Rollingstone.com
