The Swon Brothers
“Pray For You” – “I really
like their sound, very nice vocals and a nice catchy tune” - Marie
Crichton BBC Radio Shropshire
Started: 1988
Genre: Country/
Rock
Members: Zach
Swon and Colton Swon
Hometown:
Muskogee, OK
The Swon
Brothers are an American country music duo who hail from Muskogee, Oklahoma,
consisting of Zach Swon (born
February 21, 1985) and Colton Swon
(born August 17, 1988).
They spent their formative years growing up right down the street from American Idol champ-turned-country-superstar Carrie Underwood, and the three shared a stage many times throughout their childhood years.
Already naturals
before they were even pre-teens, both Zach and Colton found that they were most
at home on stage.
- The brothers started performing when they were children, touring with their parents' Southern gospel group Exodus, and performing in various local events.
- In 2007, Colton Swon auditioned for the seventh season of American Idol (aired 2008) and reached the Top 48.
- Their first professionally recorded album ANOTHER DAY, which they described as modern country, was released in January 16, 2009 but failed to chart.
- In 2013, they finished in third place on the fourth season of NBC's The Voice becoming the first duo to make it from the Top 12 live shows to the season finale. They teamed with judge Blake Shelton on “Team Blake” during the Season 4. Shelton guided the duo and later became a close ally who helped them navigate the ins and outs of the music business when Nashville record labels came calling.
- On November 1, 2013, the Swon Brothers signed a record deal with Arista (part of the Sony group)
- On Dec 10, 2013 they released their first official single, >> "Later On" which reached #13 on the Billboard Country Airplay Chart and #21 on Hot Country Songs.
- The Swon Brothers’ self-titled album made a debut at No.28 on the Billboard 200 Album chart and No.6 on the Billboard Country Chart for the chart frame Nov 1, 2014 selling 10,288 copies in their first week. They co-produced it with Mark Bright (Carrie Underwood). Blurb: Spanning 11 songs in all it features fun-filled, energetic sing-alongs like “Later On” and “What I’m Thinking About,” but it also has its share of laid-back, dirt-road, classic country heart-wrenchers like “Chasing You Around” and “Same Old Highway.”
- Their latest single "Pray For You", from the Arista Nashville release, was sent to country radio on Oct 20, 2014 with an impact date Nov 1, 2014.
- They are 2014 CMA Vocal Duo of the Year nominees.

“Where The Real Love Begins” – “No stranger to the IBMA Awards, songwriter award, lovely to hear” - Marie Crichton BBC Radio Shropshire
Genre: Bluegrass/
Americana / Acoustic Country
Birthdate: October
8th
About: Musician,
songwriter, journalist, producer, husband, father, living where you can hear
the cattle lowering in the lane.
Influence of
greats like Lester Flatt and Carter Stanley;
Jon Weisberger was
the recipient of the IBMA's first Songwriter of the Year.
He writes songs,
plays bass, produces records and radio shows.
He has been
interested in music for literally longer than he can remember having a photo of
himself holding a recorder taken when I he was three. He was very absorbed in
classical music as a child, taking up the oboe when he was in the 3rd grade and
playing it until graduatating from high school.
Back in 1992, Weisberger along with Dwight
McCall and Randy Pollard formed Union
Springs. They approached Lou Ukelson at Vetco Records about making an
album. He was receptive to the idea, but said he wanted some original songs,
and that was incentive enough for Jon to start writing.
Weisberger moved
to Nashville at the very end of 2002
– in fact, his first gig as a Nashville resident was as a member of the Sidemen
at the New Year’s Eve Station Inn show welcoming in 2003.
Though he’s a
classically trained composer and award winning music jouranlist who performs
regularly as a bass player with bluegrass artists Chris Jones & The Night
Drivers, Roland White and others, Jon Weisberger is probably best known as the
first recipient of the International
Bluegrass Music Association’s Songwriter of the Year award. Starting with
his first song, written some 20 years ago, he has become one of the music’s
most prolific and frequently recorded writers.
Jon first gained
prominence as a songwriter in 2001, when The Chapmans recorded two of his songs
on their “Follow Me” release for Pinecastle records; one of them, “Losing
Again,” became one of the most widely aired songs of the year on bluegrass
radio, earning him a nomination for SPBGMA’s Songwriter Of The Year award.
