Singer in Nashville :-) I'm just trying to be me!
Blurb: With an
amazing voice, electric smile and undeniable talent, a new voice in country
music is ready to make her mark on the entertainment industry. With the release
of her single,’ Fast’, (>> see video ) Joy Styles is already well on her way toward proving herself as
one of country music’s new vocal and songwriting forces.
She grew up in
Pennsylvania and was blessed to be able
to use her dramatic and vocal talents as a child. While other kids played, Joy
honed her craft by taking piano lessons, attending summer performing arts camps
and singing in her church choir.
The first time
Joy stepped on stage at the age of 4, she was hooked.
Music was always
a huge part of her life and was influenced by many different styles. It was her
mother that exposed her to country music - “My mother listened to Dolly Parton,
Mary Chapin Carpenter, Reba, and Tim McGraw. I heard their songs, and thought
‘This is what I want to do!”
What Joy loves
about country music is the vulnerability - "It doesn’t matter if you are male or female, you can lay it all out on
the table and say ‘I’m absolutely nothing without you in my life. You’re the
best thing that ever happened to me.’ It's loving God and family, and hope of
redemption. It’s not about pretending" she shares.
After finishing her education after attending Wellesley College Joy moved to New York City with only $400 and a dream and began perfecting her skills. She lived and worked in the Big Apple as a singer, actress and voiceover artist. While there she would align herself with SESAC as a songwriter and on a visit to Nashville she fell in love with the city. Shortly after, she made the move to the south to focus totally on being a country music artist.
Joy Styles is
excited for radio programmers and fans to hear “Fast.” Of her single, she says “I really love the song. I did not write it.
I got it from my friend Liz Morin at Showbiz-Ro music, and it’s one of those
songs when you hear it, you put your hair down. It’s about the feeling when
you’re with the person you love, and you can’t wait to get there – no matter
where they are. When you have a plan to see them at 8 o’clock, and by hook or
by crook, you’re going to get there because it’s such an amazing feeling you
have being in love with this person.”
A debut 5 track EP titled TRYING TO BE ME was self released back on July 27, 2011 (Amazon.com) which reflected the emotional
journey of a woman who knows the value of past mistakes, and reemerges
stronger, without shame or regret. The first release, “Crutches,” shows the strength of a lady who has moved beyond
relying on the validation of others to depend on her faith in God and her own
inner strength.
Now after
spending time paying her dues as a singer and songwriter in her new home city,
her dream of making it big is coming true. Joy is now an artist on 764 Records,
an imprint of Red River Entertainment, and is on the edge of country music
stardom! Her new EP, is entitled, UNBREAKABLE
which came out on Sept 2, 2014 on US iTunes
Her new EP came
about after co-producer Pat Severs played pedal steel on a gig with her at the
Rutledge in Nashville. “After that, he
said, ‘I think you’re ready now. My brother [Michael Severs] and I want to
produce you,’” she told The Boot...Read More: Joy Styles Releases New EP, 'Unbreakable'

at #4 on the ARIA, All Genres Hit seekers chart and #7 on the Australian
Country Albums Chart.
“I’m extremely proud of this record” said Simmonds, “the songs are very personal to me. They come at the conclusion of a turbulent six year period, and represent a significant growth in my understanding of the craft of songwriting”.
First single and title track Believe debuted at No.5 on the iTunes
charts and has already found a home on country music radio
The 13 heartfelt songs on 'Believe' show a woman at her most
vulnerable – yet most defiant. They are the songs of a maturing artist that’s
been to the crossroads, and chosen her path.
