phones top device for UK country fans….UK country fans are
mainly using smart phones to access music from the genre because of a lack
of homegrown radio stations playing it. Research undertaken by the Country
Music Association found 77% of followers listened to the music in that
way, while 62% did so via a laptop and 57% via radio....There was also
evidence of UK fans accessing country music stations in the US to hear the
music. This appears to reflect little support for country music on the
main UK stations, outside BBC Radio 2.

New on The Show:
"Love is War" - I really like the sound of their music, they
really are very good, great little track - Marie Crichton BBC Radio Shropshire
Hot new duo American Young performed at the 2013 ACM Songwriter
Show. Lee Brice’s Hard 2 Love album included several songs
co-written and co-produced by label mate, Jon
Stone of new duo American Young, which also includes Kristy Osmunson. On the 2013 ACM red carpet Jon spoke about his
Song of the Year nomination for Brice’s “A Woman Like You”. Their album will be
co-produced by Lee Brice and Justin Neibank.
About American Young:
Blurb: The name conjures up
something big, something that stands for something. No doubt, it’s creators -
songsmiths, producers and entertainers, Jon Stone and Kristy Osmunson declare
it this way. It’s more than a name. It’s a movement. Jon and Kristy both exude
an unparalleled passion for music and more importantly it’s meaning. They are
seasoned veterans on how music can inherently affect emotion and even culture.
The collaborative fresh new duo already claim song-writing credits for hit
makers Kenny Chesney, Lee Brice, Rascal Flatts, Blake Shelton and more.
Jon Stone and Kristy
Osmunson have both been in Nashville and have explored their options in country
music before. Jon as a solo act, then a successful producer and songwriter (“Me
and My Gang,” “A Woman Like You”) and Kristy as a founding member and sizzling
fiddle player of the duo Bomshel.
According to their Press
Release it states: But what isn’t familiar is their music. That’s because no
one—NO ONE—is making music like this. Yes, it is absolutely country with its
often picturesque, usually compelling, sometimes downright gripping lyrics.
Absolutely country with arrangements and instrumentation that brings those
lyrics and effortless vocals so far forward they reach past your auditory and
right into your heart, right into your soul, right into your gut. From the
easy, almost hushed jangly plea of “Love Is War,” to the driving, fiddle-laden
anger of “Wasn’t Gonna Drink Tonight,” American Young isn’t content with their
audience being passive listeners to their music. They want them to feel it in
their soul. That’s the sign of two artists so impassioned, so eaten up with
making music that they can’t help but do it.
Tapping the vocal ability of
both Jon and Kristy—a talent she wasn’t aware she even had—has revealed an
earthy, organic and authentic sound that has developed naturally and
effortlessly. The relationship between the two is very yin and yang. Jon—the
consummate, meticulous producer, focused on perfect tones and notes – Source Press Release
Their single "Love is War" (Curb Records) was
released to country radio on August 6, 2013 (>> Watch the Official Lyric Video)
It made a debut at No.60 on
the Billboard Country Airplay chart and peaked at #44.
For this first outing they
chose an outside song written by Billy Montana, Kylie Sackley, and Jonathan
Singleton. It was co-produced by Stone with award-winning engineer Justin
Niebank. The slightly Orwellian title, ‘Love is War,’ may lead you to believe
there is no positive message to be expected here, but the song is a plea to not
give up on the most important thing we have – love. It may not always be
sunshine and roses but it is always worth fighting for:
Sometimes love is a white
flag
Sometimes love is standing
tall
Sometimes love is a feather
Sometimes a cannonball
But it’s worth, worth
fighting for
Baby, sometimes love is war

About David Grey (Song Writer, Producer & President of Cat 5 Records)
Born and raised in Gulfport
, Ms., David Grey, began his musical career ‘later’ in life. Auto racing was in
his blood, his uncle, Joe Caspelich, was a Charter Member of the "Pure
Darlington Record Club" in 1960 in NASCAR, and was rated the "Dark
Horse"
At the age of 15 David
started a family business, Steel Brothers Race Cars and
built and worked on over a 300 race cars. Music was also in David's family, he received a
guitar as a graduation gift and before long, he was playing and writing songs.
In 1989, he worked with, Wanda Mallette, who had written such hits as “Looking
for Love” (Johnny Lee) and “Just Another Woman in Love” (Anne Murray)
recognized his raw talent and signed him to a development deal, as an
artist/writer with Wanda Mallette Music.
The following year, while
recording in Nashville , at County Q Productions, owner Paul Scholten, liked
what he heard in the final mixes and suggested pitching them to various record
labels. Within 6 weeks, MCA called a meeting to discuss his future, which
included forming a band. . In 1992, David put his career in the hands of a
brand new label, BFE/BMG Records. His first album titled ‘Signature’ was
released in March, 1993 along with his national television debut video from the
single, ‘1-900-2-LONELY’ which aired on TNN and CMT.
In 2005 his "Cowboy's
And Engines " tour was cancelled after the Gulf storm "Katrina"
ravaged his home town and left him yearning to get back to his family. After
many years of working in the racing & music Industry, David is living in
his home town writing and working with up and coming artist Lisalee Albriton. Grey co wrote and
produced several tracks for Lisa Lee Albriton's current album which includes a
pure country smash "Zero To Sexy". The song is receiving some amazing
reviews with country radio.
