Bluegrass Traditionalist Laura Orshaw Releases Spirited Single on Dark Shadow Recording
NASHVILLE, TN (March 11, 2022) — IBMA Award-winning artist Laura Orshaw releases a spirited single, “On Her Own,” with Dark Shadow Recording. Produced by label head Stephen Mougin and featuring Trey Hensley, this is her second release with the pioneering label. The country-infused track showcases her captivating vocals and fiddle skills which have landed her artistry being described as with “finesse, style, and contagious joy.”
Orshaw shares: "The lyrics of “On Her Own” were just begging for a Dolly Parton / Porter Wagoner style duet with the male and female voices splitting the verses and joining each other on the choruses. Trey Hensley’s vocal stylings fit the song perfectly, and another exciting part was the twin banjo work of BB Bowness and Eli Gilbert, echoing the sounds of twin steel guitar parts. I couldn’t be happier how it turned out!“
Recently Orshaw guested on The Stephen Mougin Show on the Bluegrass Country Radio. The station can be heard 24/7 on HD radio at 88.5FM Channel 2 in the Washington area, streaming worldwide at BluegrassCountry.org and via a free smart phone app (Apple iOS and Android devices.)
A respected powerhouse on the Bluegrass scene, Orshaw was the first female to
win SPBGMA Fiddle Player of the Year and prides herself on keeping the sounds
of traditional Bluegrass alive in the genre. A seasoned performer, Orshaw
