“Lay Your
Burden Down” - “Just listen for yourself
I think she is terrific…it’s just wonderful..hint of Jessi Colter meets Dolly
Parton” - Marie
Crichton BBC Radio Shropshire
The garrison town of Halden, strategically located on the Swedish border, is associated by many with "singing at the border", newly restored Americans and rånere in reconditioned Volvos. Fortunately, Halden has far more to offer with recording studios, musicians and an active music scene. The recordings at Athletic Sound on this third album were produced by Goran Pellegrini (Paal Plata, Chip Taylor,) with ten songs entirely written by Hege Brynildse. Musicians include Fats Kaplin (Jack White) plays pedal steel guitar, dobro, fiddle, mandolin and banjo, Omar Østli (guitars), Finn Tore Tokle (bass), Goran Allegrini (keyboards) and Tor Hauge (drums).
Hege marks her latest chapter in her recording career as one that will see her song writing gain new levels of respect because ‘When My Man Comes To Town’ is a truly wonderful achievement. - Famous Last Words Records
Some
12 twelve years ago she discovered bluegrass via Parton album The Grass is Blue
(1999) and Little Sparrow (2001), the warmth and authenticity of these discs
was something that really struck her.
Her
2012 project Hege was of the firm view that the album should not have more than
ten songs and therefore she has spent time cutting disc its down to limited
perfection consisting of eight own songs and two very, very well-chosen covers;
Amos Milburn's 1950 song about alcohol's devastating consequences, "Bad
bad Whiskey" and Geraint Watkins (pianist for Nick Lowe) beautiful
"Only a Rose".

Acoustic
ensemble from San Francisco. | Maria Quiles (voice & guitar), Rory Cloud
(voice & guitar) & Oscar Westesson (upright bass)
From
humble beginnings in the folk clubs of San Francisco, to hundreds of concerts
across thousands of miles, Quiles & Cloud give voice to the landscape of
modern America with the timeless blend of storytelling, vocal harmony and
acoustic instrumentation. After two fan-funded studio recordings, BEYOND THE RAIN, produced by Compass
Records co-founder and GRAMMY-winning banjoist Alison Brown, is Quiles &
Cloud’s debut record with the label. Their poetic minimalism and pristine
harmonies bring to mind bands like Iron & Wine and The Weepies, but their
musical portraits of American landmarks such as Deep Ellum and the Rio Grande
are distinctly their own - Compass Records

Red Sky July are a London based trio comprised of husband and wife Ally McErlaine (guitarist from 15
million-selling band Texas) and Shelly
Poole (Alisha’s Attic), with Charity
Hair (The Alice Band and latterly The Ailerons, with Blur’s Dave Rowntree).
Red Sky July’s sound is a hazy blend of Alt-Country and Americana and the band
have supported many prestigious artists such as Sheryl Crow, 10CC, Tom Jones
and Jools Holland, playing major festivals including T in the Park, Isle of
Wight and Glastonbury.
On 17 Jan they released a >> new video for “The Truth And The Lie” the title cut from an album to be released 25th March 2016 on Shadowbirds Records.
The single to be released 12th February 2016 . The new album is described as a set “of moving, uplifting songs covering subjects such as love, life, death and everything in between”.
Lyrically the
album is both considered and deeply personal. The title track is “about the delicious and excruciating feeling
of being in love with your best friend (the truth) and trying to hide it (the
lie), daydreaming about how that first kiss would be, and the lust and longing
for something more.” The band are unafraid to be open and honest about their
life experiences, fears, hopes and doubts. The album was recorded in the
band’s own studio, where they were joined in the studio by twice Grammy
nominated, Nashville based singer songwriter Beth Nielsen Chapman (Elton John,
Neil Diamond, Willie Nelson).
2014’s
‘Shadowbirds’ came straight in at No. 3 in the UK Country Charts, with Maverick describing it as “a beautiful slice of alt-country showcasing
sunny songs and gorgeous harmonies. 5/5”
