Janet McGarry
“A Carter Family Song” - “An absolute joy..I think she’s got a great sound” -  Marie Crichton BBC Radio Shropshire

For over fifteen years, Janet McGarry has continued to be a dominant presence in bluegrass music, both at home and abroad. She has shared stages with some of the most revered performers of this genre, and of her time. With ten albums to her credit, each have earned her awards, accolades, and much deserved respect from the music industry.
Her release "Wildwood Rose" won Album of the Year at the 2012 Eastern Canada Bluegrass Awards in Truro, NS. Among her most significant career accolades, Janet is now a "Daughter of Bluegrass", which is a leading group of female bluegrass artists. Janet appeared as a leading artist on the CD "Bluegrass Bouquet", the group's third collaboration on Blue Circle Records. Janet also appears on the newly released Box Set of the "Daughters of Bluegrass" project called "Pickin' Like a Girl". Janet is also a five-time "Female Vocalist of the Year" at the Eastern Canadian Bluegrass Awards, the industry's highest accolade in Eastern Canada.

Coming from a musical family, her father, Peter, and brother, Raymond involved her in the local music scene as soon as they discovered her love of performing to audiences. Performing before live audiences in little country halls during those early years provided Janet with a strong passion to sing. These were the building blocks that led her to share her love of music and simply sing what was in her heart.
Encouraged by fans and friends she met along the way, she recorded her first CD in the year 2000, which was a collection of bluegrass songs from her idols, and new material penned by local songwriters. That same year, she met her long-time idol, Hazel Dickens, at IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association), in Louisville, KY. Janet found a treasured friend and mentor in Hazel. In her lyrics, Janet found words to live by and she would be compelled to include one of Hazel's songs in each of her recordings.
Janet has also appeared on the compilation CD "Bluegrass Bands / Helping Hands © 2009", "Wildwood Rose" is a special cd for Janet, her 10th recording. To celebrate this milestone, Janet called on some of the industry's finest to help her. Long time friends, Heather Berry-Mabe and Dale Ann Bradley, along with Steve Gulley provide superb harmony vocals, and the CD was mixed and mastered by Steve Gulley of The Curve studio in Cumberland Gap, TN.
Bluegrass/ Classic Country / Folk set “Beneath a Painted Sky” was released in Aug 2014 from the Prince Edward Island, Canada artist. With fourteen tracks in total, Janet selected a mixture of songs and fan favorites, ranging from traditional bluegrass and gospel written by such artists as Carter Stanley, Wynn Stewart and A.P. Carter, to great country classics “Healing Hands of Time” written by Willie Nelson, “I’ll Come Running”, written by Connie Smith, the always fun song “Applejack” written by Dolly Parton, to the title track “Beneath a Painted Sky”, a poignant song recorded by Tammy Wynette in the late 1980’s. “ A Carter Family Song” is an original song penned by Tom T. and Miss Dixie Hall, written to honor all the great music by the Carter Family.

His Own Trail : Trailer

John T. Davis : His Own Trail : Trailer from Paul McParland on Vimeo.

Belfast filmmaker John T Davis has long loved country music, enjoyed travel and imagery presented by tales and films of America’s west, now he has come up with his version. Not happy with one western album, but two as simultaneously he  releases Last Western Cowboy and Indigo Snow. Davis’ ability as a descriptive storyteller of old, a man raised on western movies and traditional country music both elements have long since seeped into his bloodstream has like a duck to water adapted to songwriting. He takes the listener back to past glories of the big screen.
The Last Western Cowboy has the Hollywood, County Down born Davis speaks on the opening track, title-track “Last Western Cowboy” of how he feels like an old timer, but still has the know how. Bathed in pedal steel (Richard Nelson), mandolin (Ian McAllister) and shuffling rhythm Davis sets the standard, not only for the album but budding western singers. Read More
