Lewis & Leigh

Paradise” – ”I think they have got a really nice sound... they make great music together” - Marie Crichton BBC Radio Shropshire

Genre: Alt-country/Americana
Home Town: London via Wales & Mississippi

Lewis & Leigh are an Alt-country/ Americana duo from London. Though they hail from Wales and Mississippi respectively, it was through their Nashville connections that Al Lewis and Alva Leigh met.
Alva moved to London from Nashville in 2012, and both Al and Alva's last solo albums were recorded there with Charlie Peacock (The Civil Wars) and John Mark Painter (Ben Folds) respectively. It was these Nashville connections that brought them together last summer at the London show of their good friend Matthew Perryman Jones.
In early 2014, Al & Alva began writing songs together, and they quickly bonded over their love of Whiskeytown, Gram & Emmylou and Jackson Browne. In a matter of weeks, these country-tinged folk songs tumbled out to form a life of their own, and suddenly Lewis & Leigh was born.
They recorded their debut EP, Night Drives, at Urchin Studios in May 2014. It features a guest appearance from the legendary BJ Cole (Elton John, Elvis Costello) on pedal steel. During the session, Lewis & Leigh decided to record and film a live cover version of one of their favourite songs, “Say You Miss Me” by Wilco for YouTube. Night Drives comes out in October 2014.
On Sept 30, 2014 they joined Janice Long on BBC Radio 2 sharing some of their favourite tunes and chatting about all things L&L.
On Oct 6, 2014 they released their 4 track EP titled “Night Drives” (Sight Manner) available digitally on Amazon UK & UK iTunes - Read Review
On Oct 21, 2014 they launched their EP with a live gig at The Betsey Trotwood public house (56 Farringdon Road
EC1R 3BL London)
Recently they recorded an "Under the Apple Tree" session for Bob Harris.
>> Watch “Paradise” [OFFICIAL VIDEO] published on Dec 9, 2014.
Out Jan 19, 2015 the new single is available to pre-order  on Amazon UK and UK iTunes

Mo Pitney

“Country- “Really lovely sound to his voice.... he’s got a great voice co-written with Bill Anderson” - Marie Crichton BBC Radio Shropshire

Home Town: Nashville, TN
Record label:     Curb Records
Current Location: Nashville, Tn

About: Country Singer, Songwriter & Musician on Curb Records

Biography
Born and raised in Cherry Valley Illinois, Mo Pitney, is truly a small town country boy. He began his career in music at the age of 12 when he picked up his dad’s guitar and asked him to teach him a few chords, his dad obliged, never dreaming just how far he would take it from there.
After mastering the guitar, he went on to teach himself to play the banjo, bass and drums. His music has been highly influenced by bluegrass artists such as Tony Rice and J.D. Crowe. Mo spent countless hours listening to old vinyl records and cassette tapes over and over until he got every lick exactly right.
To hear him sing, you would never imagine you were listening to someone just 20 years of age. Vocally inspired by artists such as Keith Whitley, Johnny Cash, Randy Travis, Buck Owens and Daryle Singletary, Mo has a deep baritone sound all to himself, matured well beyond his years.
Currently, Mo is working on a new album with Curb Records, working on making it a perfect blend of traditional and mainstream country sound. Mo enjoys writing songs that reflect what he’s all about: Young love, faith, family, friends and his love for the outdoors. Deeply rooted in the classic true country style that he cut his musical teeth on, Mo has the ability to deliver each song with a fresh, young, modern twist…in his own way, making the old new again.
When he is performing or writing music, Mo spends his free time training his bird dogs, fishing, or hunting anything that’s in season. He skins his own bucks and runs his trotlines. Mo Pitney is the real deal…a country boy that could quite possibly change country music in a very big way.
Written by Mo along with Bill Anderson and Bobby Tomberlin, the debut single, "Country" was sent to radio on Dec 11, 2014 and made available digitally on Tuesday, December 16th.

Taste of Country said about his debut single, "Country": “Perhaps not since Easton Corbin’s debut has a traditional artist’s introduction felt so…right.  His words come out pouring like unexpected sunshine.  An easy strum of an acoustic and cry of the steel couples up next to him.  He’s got us long before he gets to the final verse.”

Huffington Post :15 Country Artists to Watch in 2015: #5. Mo Pitney:  Mo Pitney, originally from Cherry Valley, Illinois, is truly an old soul. He's a meticulous songwriter with a gift for telling stories. When he debuted his new single, "Country," at The Grand Ole Opry earlier this year, he was received with a standing ovation. That reception will surely be the first of many for this talented newcomer.

Marcum Stewart

“Me Before You” - I think it’s really nice, between contemporary and traditional, just the way we like it...very strong song, a hint of John Berry, very nice song from him -  Marie Crichton BBC Radio Shropshire

Genre: Singer/Songwriter, Country, Americana
Marcum Stewart - Vocals, Guitar, Piano
Home Town: Nashville, TN
Marcum Stewart is a Recording Artist & Songwriter for Otter Rapids Music (SESAC) in Nashville, TN.

Originally from Huntington, WV, Marcum Stewart started playing piano at the early age of 4, began writing songs at the age of 12, and taught himself how to play Guitar at age 15. He was in several bands before moving to Nashville, including one in Huntington with well-known Nashville songwriter/artist Rick Huckaby called Southern Knights.
Marcum moved to Nashville, TN in 1994 to pursue a career as a songwriter/producer. Early in his career he was the Catalog anager/Tape Room Guy for two publishing companies in town (Island Bound Music & Rick Hall Music). Along with tape copy, he was assistant engineer to Island Bound Studio's house engineer at the time, Luke Wooten.
In 95 & 96 he joined a country songwriters group that Brenda Cline put together called the "Young Riders" which comprised of himself, Rachel Proctor, Kenny Horton & Tom Wurth.
Marcum never claimed to be a singer nor had the desire to be a performer, but joined a local rock band in '98 called Seven Stories High which ended up becoming Subsonic to play Rhythm Guitar, but they lacked a singer. Marcum stepped in and sang for them. In 2003 that same band had a deal on the table with Wind-Up Records which ultimately fell through.
Through a couple other attempts with Rock bands (Tragedy Kings & Bluecollar Suicide), Marcum eventually went back to his roots & love of Country.
For a little over 2 years he was in the duo with Andrea Villarreal called Acklen Park, they had some chart success with their song "Great American Song" which peaked at #48, had a video on TCN and gained thousand of fans on Facebook & Twitter.
An EP “Little By Little” dropped in Sept 2012 via Amazon UK, UK iTunes and Amazon.com
Marcum began focusing more on his songwriting career and signed with Dan Hodges Music in 2012.
His new album released Oct 28, 2014 titled PUT IT IN DRIVE (Otter Rapids Music) is available on Amazon UK, UK iTunes and Amazon.com and is being promoted via introductory single “Me Before You”

“Light The Tree Lights” - One of the most beautiful tracks of the evening, when I hear a band like this I think Wow! Her [Sara Milonovich] voice is an absolute delight, perfect for this time of year, a lovely track,  I think they’ve got a great sound -  Marie Crichton BBC Radio Shropshire

Founded on 2008
Home Town: Beacon, NY

Current Location: Beacon, NY
Genre: Indie Roots Rock/Alt-Country
Band Members:
Sara Milonovich - vocals, fiddle, guitar
Greg Anderson - guitars, vocals
Andy Goessling - mandolin, dobro, banjo, guitar, vocal
Influences: Joe Strummer and The Mescaleros, Neko Case, Dixie Chicks, KT Tunstall, Kathleen Edwards, Stuart Duncan, Red Hot Chili Peppers

Indie roots rock with a barbed wire edge. A fiddle-driven Neko Case meets female Joe Strummer and The Mescaleros.

Daisycutter is a band of adventurous travelers from the many and varied music scenes of New York, who combine a wide-screen city view with a bracing dose of rural realism.
Daisycutter is the "downtown upstate" culmination of the NY musical melting pot in action. They combine a wide-screen city view with a bracing dose of rural realism into a searing mix of indie roots-rock and alt-country. Frontwoman/ singer/ fiddler/ songwriter Sara Milonovich has also been a highly sought-after accompanist in the rock, folk, bluegrass, americana, and celtic music worlds, and has performed and recorded throughout North and South America, Europe and beyond.

Growing up on a working farm in rural upstate New York, she began playing when she was four, and by nine was leading her own band (around the same time she learned to drive a tractor.) After a collection of awards for fiddling, singing, songwriting, and composing, she left school at sixteen to hit the road with NY bluegrass band The McKrells. A diverse trajectory led her from there through a busy career as an accompanist and collaborator with such artists as Richard Shindell, Pete Seeger (on his Grammy-winning At 89 album), Eliza Gilkyson, and Mountain Quickstep, among others, while simultaneously earning a degree in Biology from Cornell.

Michelle Lewis

“None of That Now” -  I think she sounds better than ever on this new release, it’s beautiful..... beautiful voice and a lovely sound that hooks you in, only the second time and it felt like I was listening to it all my life” -  Marie Crichton BBC Radio Shropshire

Genre: Folk Singer/Songwriter
Hometown: Boston, MA
"Michelle Lewis writes happy songs that bring tears, and sad songs that evoke smiles."

Her music is rich with melody, and her lyrics seek beauty in the face of sadness.
Too refined to call folk and too personal to call pop, as a singer/songwriter Michelle’s music is uniquely intimate, and surprisingly polished. As a storyteller, she writes intensely visual songs that explore the emotional remainders in burgeoning and breaking relationships.

Michelle Lewis picked up her father’s acoustic guitar at the age of 14 and quickly abandoned interest in everything else.
She honed her songwriting at Berklee College of Music in her hometown of Boston, and went on to tour the United States behind her first album, This Time Around (2004). She has been a long time collaborator with producer Anthony J. Resta (Elton John, Duran Duran, Shawn Mullins). Their work has included the release of her Broken (2009) and Paris (2011) EPs, and most recently her second full-length album, The Parts Of Us That Still Remain (April 29, 2014), with songs co-written by Nashville favorite Robby Hecht and LA sound designer Conan Skyrme.

She released a new holiday single "In The Bleak Midwinter" on Dec 1, 2014
